Fidlers' Fourball Golf Competition

Annual Matchplay Golf Competition 2010

Our competition is now in its 18th year of running and with its simple format, it is arranged so that golfers can meet liked minded players on courses in and around our local area, with the aim of having a really good game of golf in great company and first class surroundings.

The competition is free to enter and split into two divisions according to handicap. The final will be played at Hollinwell, one of the UK's finest inland golf courses, at 1pm on Thursday 14th October. This will be followed a presentation dinner where the winner will be awarded the prestigious Fidlers' Plate.

A Brief History of Fidlers' Famous Fourball -
In 1992 Tony Slade came up with the idea of the Fidlers’ Famous Fourball and began by asking his partners for contacts of people who they knew liked to play golf. The competition was simple enough and arranged so that golfers would meet like minded players on courses that they may have not played before. The idea took off immediately.

The Rules

1. The Competition is on a knockout basis.
2. Each match will be played by the specified time and the result communicated to Elaine Mimoune at Fidler & Pepper.
3. In the event that a match is not played by the closing date for that round, then a coin will be tossed to decide who goes through to the next round as an away player.
4. A fourball, better ball competition with a handicap limit for each person of 28; strokes allowed will be from the back marker who will concede to the other players 3/4 of the difference of their full handicaps.
5. The match will be played on the course of the first named competitors (or home team) or the course of their choice if the team are members of two different clubs. Should the competitors not be members of a golf club then the match shall be played on a course of their choice. The Green fee is to be paid equally by all four competitors.
6. In the event of the match finishing all square after 18 holes then the sudden death principle shall apply and as many holes as necessary shall be played to obtain a result.
7. The final will be played at Notts Golf Club (Hollinwell) in October 2009, tee off 1pm.
8. Any disputes will be referred to Russell Jones whose decision shall be final & binding.

Once all the entries are received a draw is carried out and everyone informed of their division and who they will be playing in the first round. The tournament then begins.

Numbers are limited so if you are interested in taking part, all you need to do is to request an Entry Form. If you have any questions you can contact Elaine Mimoune on 01623 448 307.
