Why make a Will?
It's one of those things we tend to put off and do not like to think about, but if you don't make a Will, this may leave a burden for your loved ones. Only three in ten people bother to make a Will, so that leaves 7 out of 10 people who have no control what happens to their possessions.
You may think you not are wealthy enough to have a Will, but you could be surprised! With the huge increase in house values over the last 10 years not only are a lot more people left with a sizeable "estate" to sort out, but more and more people are liable to pay Inheritance Tax.
What if I don't make a Will?
If you die without making a Will the law decides whom your money goes to. Under current legislation if you don't have surviving relatives everything could go to the Crown. Even if you do, it may not be distributed as you wish.
If you have children under 18 and you die, serious problems can arise if you haven't made proper provision for them in your will.
Try clicking on "Without a Will" to see what would happen to your estate in these circumstances.
Inheritance Tax and Tax Planning
Tax may be payable on the assets of your estate. Each year the Chancellor in his annual budget sets the threshold, which currently stands at £325,000.
We can help you arrange your affairs so the estate which represents what you and your family have worked hard to build up over the years, benefits your family and friends, rather than going to the taxman!
With our experience, we help people like you with their estate planning every year. We have offices in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Mansfield and Kirkby-in-Ashfield. If you would an initial, no obligation chat to talk through your concerns or would like to make an appointment, please contact us on 01623 45 11 11 or email us at the We also offer home appointments.
